Our Mission

Provide access to therapy for those experiencing PTSD or the impacts of trauma

welcome to kalming minds

Kalming Minds was founded by Karl “Konan” Wilson, one half of the chart-topping UK rap duo Krept & Konan. After speaking publicly about his own experiences of PTSD, including sharing his therapy journey in Channel 4’s Trapped in Trauma, Konan was inspired to act.

He realised thousands of people were struggling to access any form of support — whether due to long NHS waiting lists, stigma, or cost. Kalming Minds was born to fill this gap and give people the help they deserve.

Our Ambition

Our immediate goal is to create a national register of 100 trauma-qualified therapists who can provide sessions on an accessible rolling basis.

In the long term, we aim to:

  • Develop community outreach programmes.
  • Complement and strengthen public services through innovative, technology-supported solutions.

We provide help and guidance for anyone affected by trauma, whether formally diagnosed or not

OUR VISION

We envision a UK where anytime affected by PTSD or the lasting or impacts of trauma can access timely, effective and compassionate support. We want to normalise conversations around trauma, reduce stigma, and empower people to rebuild their lives.

Understanding PTSD

Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) is a mental health condition that develops after experiencing or witnessing trauma. It can cause flashbacks, nightmares, heightened anxiety, difficulty concentrating, and emotional numbness.

While PTSD is often associated with veterans, it affects people from all walks of life — survivors of accidents, abuse, violence, disasters, and sudden loss.

Our Therapies

We work with evidence-based therapies proven to help with PTSD:

  • Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (TfCBT) – Helps address current symptoms while reshaping harmful thoughts and behaviours.
  • Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing (EMDR) – A structured approach using bilateral stimulation to safely process traumatic memories.

Our therapists prioritise therapeutic alliance — the trusting relationship between client and therapist — because it is the foundation of healing. psychological techniques to assist with processing traumatic events. CBT addresses current symptoms whilst focussing on modifying thoughts and behaviours.
